Company History

History
Biosystems, Inc. was chartered and incorporated as a private, for profit, company in August 1976 in the State of Georgia, USA. 

Name
Biosystems is derived from the Greek prefix "Bio" referring to life in its "infinite variety" (our apologies to William Wordsworth), from the simplest viroid to the highest angiosperm or the highest primate and the suffix systems, referring to integrated and coordinated components of biological systems with a specific sub-function or a central function - "to live" (i.e., survive, flourish and multiply), which indeed is the unified or the main function or "purpose", if indeed there is one, of life.

Logo
Biosystems logo is "a wheel of life" made of two concentric circles. The inner circle contains a replicating molecule of DNA, the molecular basis of biological reproduction, a blueprint for life and an icon of "life" itself. The outer circle is comprised of light [positive] hockey sticks contrasted against a dark [negative] background representing mutually-balanced positive and negative environmental factors. The 24 hockey sticks also represent time - the 24 hours in a day, suggesting that this wheel of life spins round-the-clock until dark forces take over and "death" occurs, i.e. life ceases to exist. The inner circle also represents the sun of our solar system providing solar radiation, which energizes this wheel of life, thus causing it to spin or live. Thus, an organism or living matter "lives" by maintaining an active, dynamic order and by defying entropy via this precarious balance of environmental forces against a backdrop of the "life-giving", chemical energy or "force" of the sun until death occurs, when this balance is disrupted and life is lost.  

Motto
Biosystems motto, "We find and serve biological solutions!", emphasizes the applications of biological sciences benefiting all life in the universe, not just the human society on this planet. However, for being our customers, clients and sponsors of our work and for being the highest form of life known to date, a positive bias, unabashedly far above and beyond that reserved for the rest of biota, is reserved for human life.

Even though disciplinary concentration of Biosystems is centered around research and development with biological systems, however, our chief strength and forte' unambiguously remains service -i.e., identify and provide practical solutions for real, day-to-day problems pertaining to life. Therefore, we repeat...  "We find and serve biological solutions" for our customers.
